Labby Privacy Policy
The short version
- Labby reads your lab results from Apple Health, only with your permission, and never writes to Health.
- Your lab results stay on your iPhone. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
- We never sell or share your data, and we cannot see it.
Who we are
Labby is made by Sync App Labs LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("Sync App Labs", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Labby app uses, where it is kept, and the choices you have.
Lab results from Apple Health
With your permission, Labby reads the lab results stored in Apple Health, including clinical records your hospital or clinic sends there. Labby only reads lab results. It does not request access to any other kind of health data, and it never adds, changes, or deletes anything in Apple Health.
Labby uses these results to match each test to a standard biomarker name, show how each biomarker changes over time, and mark results that fall outside their reference range. The results Labby imports are stored in the app's own storage on your iPhone. They are not sent to our servers, to iCloud, or to any third party.
Your profile
Labby asks for your first and last name, sex, and date of birth. Your first name is used to greet you in the app. Your sex and age are used to tailor reference ranges, since some ranges differ by sex and age. You can change your profile at any time in Labby's Settings.
What syncs through iCloud
If you use iCloud, Labby keeps a small set of settings in sync across your devices signed in to the same Apple Account: your profile, your favorite biomarkers, and your light or dark appearance choice. This uses your own iCloud storage, managed by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot access it.
Your lab results are never stored in iCloud by Labby. On a new device, Apple Health restores them, and you can import them into Labby again with a single sync.
What we do not do
- We do not run servers that receive your data, and Labby makes no network requests of its own.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking tools, or any third-party code that collects data.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone.
- We do not use health information for advertising, marketing, or data mining.
Emails you choose to send us
If some of your results do not match a standard biomarker, Labby can prepare an email to us listing the test names, LOINC codes, and units involved, along with the app version. It does not include your results, values, or dates. The email opens in your mail app, where you can read and edit it before deciding whether to send it.
If you send it, or email us for any other reason, we receive your email address and whatever the message contains. We use it only to reply to you and to improve Labby, and we never sell or share it.
Your choices and deleting your data
- Health access: you can turn Labby's access to your health records on or off at any time in the Health app or in your iPhone's Settings.
- Delete all data: Labby's Settings include an option that permanently removes all imported reports and results from the app. Your records in Apple Health are not affected.
- Delete the app: deleting Labby removes everything it stored on your iPhone. The synced settings described above may remain in your iCloud storage, which is managed by Apple.
Security
Because your data stays on your device, it is protected by the security built into iOS, including encryption of your iPhone's storage when it is protected with a passcode.
Children
Labby is not directed at children under 13. We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Labby changes how it handles your information, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
